There was some legislation in the senate this year to increase the state's tuition tax credit. This credit partially reimburses parents for tuition expenses paid for private education. The current credit can go no higher than $500. One bill proposed to raise it to $1000 or $1500. Another, the one I was able to contribute to, set the limit at half the state's per pupil expense -about $5000. Both bills died in committee (or are almost dead).
During the process I was able to learn a lot about the key people involved and how the education funding machine works. This year I plan to work with several lawmakers and other leaders to help get this kind of legislation passed.
I welcome any input and questions you have to help me think through the project.
Thank you.
